Briar

Briar sits in the red brown range that Australians know from jarrah, which is why it works in an older weatherboard or a Federation home where the joinery is already red toned. The satin texture gives a light grain you can feel underfoot without it catching dust the way a deep matt face can. Five random faces is a moderate set, enough for a bedroom or a study, but mix boxes before running it through a long open plan area. Each plank measures 200 x 1200 mm in glazed ceramic at 9 to 9.5 mm, and a box of 5 covers 1.20 m2 at 25 kg.

• How many square metres are in a carton of Briar?

Each carton holds 5 planks of 20 x 120 cm and covers 1.20 m², at about 25 kg. Briar is a timber look tile with a satin textured face.

• How many cartons of Briar for a 20 m² living area?

Add 10 percent to 20 m² for cuts and breakage, which gives 22.0 m². At 1.20 m² a carton that is 19 cartons.

• Can Briar go in an alfresco area?

No, Briar is rated for interior use. For a covered alfresco or verandah, choose one of Metro's designs rated for outdoor use.

• Does Briar suit hydronic underfloor heating?

Yes. As a glazed ceramic plank it will not gap or cup as the slab warms, and unlike engineered timber it has no 27°C surface limit.
