Carob

Carob shares its red brown colouring and satin texture with Briar, and the difference between them is where you would put them. This one runs darker in effect across a whole floor, so it suits a hallway and living area combination in a single storey home where the same tile carries through from the front door. Real jarrah in that role costs several times as much and needs recoating. Five random faces means boxes should be opened together and mixed. Planks are 200 x 1200 mm in glazed ceramic at 9 to 9.5 mm, 5 to a box, 1.20 m2, 25 kg.

• How many square metres are in a carton of Carob?

Each carton holds 5 planks of 20 x 120 cm and covers 1.20 m², at about 25 kg. Carob is a timber look tile with a satin textured face.

• How many cartons of Carob for a 12 m² bedroom?

Add 10 percent to 12 m² for cuts and breakage, which gives 13.2 m². At 1.20 m² a carton that is 11 cartons.

• Can Carob go in an alfresco area?

No, Carob is rated for interior use. For a covered alfresco or verandah, choose one of Metro's designs rated for outdoor use.

• Does Carob suit hydronic underfloor heating?

Yes. As a glazed ceramic plank it will not gap or cup as the slab warms, and unlike engineered timber it has no 27°C surface limit.
