Sand Dune

Coastal houses collect sand, and a warm chestnut floor forgives it in a way a grey or a white never will. Sand Dune has a satin texture, lightly textured so it feels like sanded board and still wipes down after a beach day. Four random faces is on the low side. Open at least four cartons and mix them before laying, particularly in an open plan room. The colour is close to brushbox, warm with a little red in it. This is an indoor tile, so leave the verandah to something outdoor rated. Each plank is 200 x 1200 mm, glazed ceramic, 9 to 9.5 mm thick, 5 to a box, 1.20 m2, 25 kg.

  Each carton holds 5 planks of 20 x 120 cm and covers 1.20 m², at about 25 kg. Sand Dune is a timber look tile with a satin textured face.

  Add 10 percent to 28 m² for cuts and breakage, which gives 30.8 m². At 1.20 m² a carton that is 26 cartons.

• Can Sand Dune go in an alfresco area?

  No, Sand Dune is rated for interior use. For a covered alfresco or verandah, choose one of Metro's designs rated for outdoor use.

• What grout joint should Sand Dune be laid with?

  Sand Dune is a curve-edge plank rather than a rectified one, so lay it with a 3 to 5 mm joint. That spacing takes up the small natural variation along the plank and reads like the gap between real boards.
