Hardwood boards cost more per square metre every year, and a nutmeg tile like this covers the same ground for less without needing a recoat. The colour is a mid warm brown that hides marks better than pale tones. Its satin plain surface is smooth, mops in a single pass and shows dust, and there is no grip advantage, so leave the wet areas to a textured tile. The catch is four random faces, a low count. Open four cartons, shuffle the planks and lay from the mixed pile or the repeat will find you. Boxes contain 8 planks of 150 x 900 mm, 1.08 m2 in total, 22 kg.

  NRC-110 is a curve-edge plank rather than a rectified one, so lay it with a 3 to 5 mm joint. That spacing takes up the small natural variation along the plank and reads like the gap between real boards.
