Hardwood Dekina

Building a deck means stumps, bearers, joists and a carpenter for a week. Where there is already a concrete slab or an old paved area out the back, tiling over it skips that work and still gets the red brown timber colour for the price of the tile and a tiler. Hardwood Dekina is rated for outdoor use, and its matt face is textured deeply enough to keep grip when rain blows in sideways under a pergola. Six random faces gives enough variation that the paving does not read as a printed pattern underfoot. Planks are 200 x 1200 mm in glazed ceramic at 9 to 9.5 mm, 5 per box, 1.20 m2 and 25 kg.

• How many square metres are in a carton of Hardwood Dekina?

Each carton holds 5 planks of 20 x 120 cm and covers 1.20 m², at about 25 kg. Hardwood Dekina is a timber look tile with a matte textured face.

• How many cartons of Hardwood Dekina for a 20 m² living area?

Add 10 percent to 20 m² for cuts and breakage, which gives 22.0 m². At 1.20 m² a carton that is 19 cartons.

• Can Hardwood Dekina go in an alfresco area?

Yes. Hardwood Dekina is rated for outdoor use, so a covered alfresco, verandah or balcony can have a timber deck look that never needs oiling or re-staining.

• Does Hardwood Dekina suit hydronic underfloor heating?

Yes. As a glazed ceramic plank it will not gap or cup as the slab warms, and unlike engineered timber it has no 27°C surface limit.
