Mocha Brown

Nine random faces is enough to run a whole ground floor without a repeat catching your eye, which is the main reason to pick Mocha Brown over a cheaper design. The nutmeg brown sits near spotted gum, mid golden brown with real depth in the grain. Its satin plain face is smooth with a low sheen rather than a gloss, easy to mop, though it shows dust sooner than a textured floor. Laid over a concrete slab it stays cooler than timber right through a long summer. Planks measure 200 x 1200 mm in glazed ceramic, 9 to 9.5 mm thick, with 5 in a box covering 1.20 m2 at 25 kg.

• What does a carton of Mocha Brown cover?

• How many cartons of Mocha Brown for a 28 m² open plan kitchen and dining area?

• Can Mocha Brown go in an alfresco area?

No, Mocha Brown is rated for interior use. For a covered alfresco or verandah, choose one of Metro's designs rated for outdoor use.

• What grout joint should Mocha Brown be laid with?

Mocha Brown is a curve-edge plank rather than a rectified one, so lay it with a 3 to 5 mm joint. That spacing takes up the small natural variation along the plank and reads like the gap between real boards.
